FAQ

How long will my advert run for?
Either six or twelve months depending on the package selected. Should your dress or accessory remain unsold after this time, please feel free to contact us at Share the Dream will advise you by email how to renew your advert. However, once your item has sold, please edit your account accordingly and save you unwanted inquiries.

How do I place my advert?
Simply click the 'CLICK HERE' option on the 'How to Advertise' page, select your advert format and follow the online instructions. Your advert will go live immediately once your payment has been processed and you have completed the advert details template.

What information should I include in my advert?
Quite simply, as much details as possible, especially if your photo or image doesn't portray how wonderful the item is!

How will purchasers find my advert online?
We conduct extensive marketing of the site both online and offline and we frequently obtain PR coverage that continually brings new advertising and purchasers to the site.

Can I send photos to you if I don't have a digital image?
Of course, images can be posted by regular mail to the following address: Share the Dream, 4 Greaves Avenue, Melton Mowbray, Leics, LE13 0LE, United Kingdom
Until your images are received, we will post a 'No Image Available' sign alongside your advert and replace this upon receipt of your mail. We just ask that you send us a stamped addressed envelope so we can return them to you.

How do I decide what price to sell at?
Your personal items will have considerable value to you, financially as well as emotionally. However, an item that has been worn will not command the value you paid for it. We suggest you consider what price you would be willing to pay from the prospective purchasers position. Additionally, we offer the option of adding 'ono' to your advert so that prospective purchasers know that an offer can be made to you. After all, you can always say no!

Can I advertise new and unworn items too?
Yes of course. We also welcome adverts from retailers and designers as ultimately, we want our user to have access to the best items available on the market.

Is there a recommended format for images?
We would recommend that all images are no larger than 1MB as otherwise they may not display correctly in the gallery. Photo software should allow you to compress images for web page viewing and it's always a good idea to follow this before uploading your advert. It also speeds up the download speed for viewers of our advert.

Can I change my advert if I need to at a later stage?
Yes you can. We appreciate that occasionally you may wish to alter the price or description of your advertised item and are more than happy for this to take place. Simply revisit your account and use your original email address and password and follow the online instructions to make any amendments to your existing adverts.

Do you protect my email address?
Absolutely! We understand how important your online privacy is and that there are unscrupulous email scammers out there. Therefore, we have now designed our system specifically to ensure that we shield you as much as is possible. All emails generated directly from the site are screened by one of the Share the Dream team and will only be forwarded to you if we consider them to be genuine.

How do I know whether my buyer is genuine?
We screen our advertisers email addresses as we realise that there are unscrupulous people out there who will try and obtain funds fraudulently. If you have any concerns whatsoever regarding an email you have received then please forward it on to us straight away. One way to spot a scam email is by the fact that the text will contain poor English or grammar and often this is the first sign that this may not be genuine. Should someone offer you more money than your dress is worth or alternatively offer to send money without even wanting to see the dress, they may be not be genuine. We would also advise our advertisers to never give out bank details to anyone unless you are completely satisfied that they are a genuine buyer.

Should I include my phone number on my advert?
We've been having lots and lots of debates between ourselves here as to whether or not it should be a standard feature on our adverts and the decision we've come to is that it should be completely up to you! Therefore, when creating your advert it's completely up to you whether you include a contact number or not. There are of course plusses and minuses to displaying your telephone number on the internet, as it will make it easier for people to contact you to buy your item but also, there are some sad people out there who enjoy making silly, useless calls. Therefore, we'd rather give you the choice so it's completely optional.

Do you facilitate payment between the buyer and seller?
All financial transactions are private between the advertiser and the prospective purchaser and are not facilitated by Share the Dream. We would however advise you to ensure at all times that you are satisfied that either you as the advertiser or you as the seller are completely satisfied as to the validity of the sale and arrange the transaction to take place in whatever manner suits you both best.

How quickly do you respond to emails?
We endeavour to answer all emails as quickly as possible and a general guideline is that our office hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (G.M.T). We will do our utmost to personally respond to any queries within 24 hours from receipt.
